Peaks Little Angels School Age Program is designed to help improve the quality of life in the areas of academic and social development of at risk youth that reside in the Southwest and West Philadelphia area. The community in which we service displays signs of significant poverty, violent crime, and drugs. This program is carefully planned by our administrators, parents and school volunteers to provide social service for at risk youths from area schools in the community. Activities will include homework assistance during after school hours, nutrition education cooking classes from Penn State Cooperative Program along with the 4-H Club. We are continuing to provide mentoring programs and sponsor a thriving Girl Scout Program. The Philadelphia Activities Fund will help us develop our Music and Etiquette Program.
During the summer months, youth will have the opportunity to participate in a full day Summer Camp Program that will operate from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. This program will include a free breakfast, lunch & snack program. The Summer Camp Program will provide supervised educational activities, music, dance, drama, choir, youth performance program, school preparation, cultural activities, health related programs, social activities, nutrition education, family counseling and parental training programs on issues which deal with anti-drug, anti-violence and anti-crime programs.
We will visit Philadelphia landmarks and teach the youth to appreciate the city of Philadelphia. During the summer months the youth will also experience the urban gardening program as well as field trips to different summer camp programs to perform rehearsed music, dance and drama. The youth will be exposed to positive landmarks and sections of the city. We will encourage the appreciation of self development.
